We travel, we see a monument, we take a picture. Framing sites of mass tourism in our viewfinders, we create photographic souvenirs that are integral to the touristic experience. Conducting keyword searches of famed monuments in photo sharing web sites, Swiss /French artist Corinne Vionnet culled thousands of tourists’ snapshots for her series Photo Opportunities. Weaving together numerous photographic perspectives and experiences, the artist builds her own impressionistic interpretations – ethereal structures which float gently in a dream-like haze of blue sky.

At the core of Corinne Vionnet’s artistic practice are topographical themes, namely the interaction between nature and humankind.
Nous voyageons, nous regardons un monument, nous prenons une photo. Tout en cadrant les sites touristiques dans notre viseur, nous créons des souvenirs photographiques, partie intégrante de notre expérience en tant que touriste. En recherchant par mots clés de monuments célèbres sur des sites web de partage d'images, l'artiste franco-suisse Corinne Vionnet a glané des milliers de clichés touristiques pour sa série Photo Opportunities. Tissant ces nombreuses perspectives et expériences photographiques, elle a construit ses propres interprétations impressionnistes: des structures légères qui flottent doucement dans la brume imaginaire d'un ciel bleu.

Les thèmes topographiques tout comme l'interaction entre la nature et l'humain sont au cœur de la pratique artistique de Corinne Vionnet.
